How to sell beats online
You upload beats to a beat store, set license prices, and the store handles checkout and delivery. Plans and commissions differ, so compare each store’s own published fees below before you pick one. We do not rank them.
Key takeaways
Fees vary a lot
From 0% commission on paid plans to 30% on a free plan, depending on the store and the plan.
Read the terms, not just the headline
Some stores’ marketing pages and terms of service say different things, so check both.
Write your licenses down
Caps, credit and exclusivity are what you will need if a track takes off.
The steps
- Finish and tag the beat. A clean master, a tempo (use the BPM tapper), a key and a mood help buyers find it.
- Decide your licenses. A non-exclusive lease, an exclusive, and what each allows. Draft the terms with the beat lease builder.
- Check any samples or loops are cleared for the uses you are selling.
- Pick a store using the facts below, then set prices and upload.
- Agree splits in writing with any co-producer before the first sale.

Questions people ask
Where can I sell beats online?
Beat stores such as BeatStars, Airbit, Traktrain and Soundee let you upload beats, set license prices and get paid. The table on this page lists each one’s own published plans and commission, dated. We do not rank them.
Do beat stores take a commission?
It depends on the store and the plan. BeatStars and Airbit advertise 0% commission, Traktrain’s free plan keeps 100% of MP3 sales and 75% of kit sales, and Soundee’s terms charge free sellers 30%. Check the current page before you sign up.
Is it free to start?
Airbit, Traktrain and Soundee list a free plan, with different limits and fees. We could not confirm a BeatStars free plan on the pages we read. See the table.
Do I need to register my beats?
Not to start selling, but know who owns what. Settle splits with any collaborators in writing; see the split sheet generator. For registering songs, see the copyright and PRO pages.
What should my license say?
At minimum: stream and sales caps, video and performance rights, credit, term, and whether it is exclusive. Our beat lease builder turns your choices into a plain-language summary. It is not a contract.
Are the fees guaranteed to stay the same?
No. Prices and fees change, and some stores’ own pages disagree with each other, so we link every figure to its source and show the date we checked.
